From Ananda Aromatherapy, Arnica, in the form pure arnica montana flower extract, emulsified in organic Sunflower oil. This Arnica is exceptionally potent, and the emulsification is done to standardize of the 'active' compounds. These are known for their anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. The oil is intended for use at between 1/2% and 1% (6 to 12 drops per ounce) in your recipes, and will blend nicely with Helichrysum, Ginger, Frankincense and German Chamomile for topical formulas.* What makes Ananda's oils different? | Suggested Uses: | Apply topically in a carrier oil, cream or gel at a concentration between 0.5% and 1%. | |
| Possible Actions: | Arnica has been noted to be potentially anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antibacterial. | |
| Possible Indications: |
Can may be supportive in cases of inflammation, chronic and traumatic injuries, and prevention of bruising. | |
| Cautions: | Always test a small amount of essential oil first for sensitivity or allergic reaction. If pregnant or under a doctor's care, consult a physician. Arnica may be a photosensitizer, possibly making the skin more susceptible to UV light where it has been applied. Follow with sunscreen, or keep applied areas out of direct sunlight for 48 hours after application. | |

Arnica has a long history of use as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory. It has been used for generations as an 'infused' oil, where the flowers are soaked in an oil such as olive oil for many weeks. This oil would then be topically applied or used to create further formulations.
