Carrot oil is a CO2 extract of dried carrot root in Jojoba oil, making this wonderful distillation much easier to include in skin and hair care recipes. The oil does have a light, sweet and earthy aroma, though it is its actions when topically applied that are Carrot Root Oil's highlights. This bright orange oil is distilled from the root, and has different properties than Carrot Seed (the essential oil from the seed is often used for detoxification and regeneration of both skin and liver cells - these two oils can certainly be used in combination in your recipes).

Carrot root extract is very high in carotenes (vitamin A precursors) and natural vitamin E. Pharmaceutical preparations of vitamin A have been used to stimulate skin cell regeneration and exfoliation—Carrot oil may provide the same regenerative support with none of the side effects associated with the manufactured creams. This is a very high concentration of natural carrot root extract, and can be added to your skin care formulas in low dilutions to enjoy its many benefits.

This oil may support skin cell regeneration for mature skin, help balance natural skin oil production for dry skin, and may encourage hair growth. The oil may also act as a natural UV ray protectant, and may help speed healing of wounds and scars. The oil is considered a potent natural anti-oxidant, providing this protection both topically and within aromatherapy recipes (extending the shelf-life of your blends).

Carrot oil may blended with one or more of the many essential oils used for skin and hair care. Consider adding Carrot oil in a concentration from 1-10% in Rosehip Seed (studied for anti-wrinkle and wound healing action), Evening Primrose (provides essential fatty acids, studied for healing all types of dermatitis), Coconut (nutritive and softening) and/or Tamanu (considered healing for sensitive and damaged skin). Complementary essential oils are Sea Buckthorn (like Carrot, also high in vitamin-A compounds), Helichrysum (can be anti-inflammate and wound healing), Lavender (also anti-inflammate, healing and regenerative), Rosemary Verbenone (recommended for skin can hair formulas for its stimulation of skin cell metabolism), Carrot Seed (supports detoxification and regeneration of the skin), Rose Otto (hydrating and soothing to feminine skin), German Chamomile (anti-inflammatory), Neroli (soothing) and Ylang Ylang (said to help grow thicker, darker hair).
