Eucalyptus Dives essential oil, one of the many commonly used eucalyptus varieties in aromatherapy shares many common characteristics with the other oils. However, it has a generally lower cineol content (not a lot, mind you, but a generally the least, at 60-70% of the overall chemical constituency), it is excellent for topical use. At the same time, many are interchangeable, and depend on your personal preference of aroma.

The aroma is refreshing and uplifting -- an excellent choice for inclusion in massage formulas, and for diffusion alone for support of breathing conditions. Some folks may appreciate it's softer "woody" aroma -- having less "eye opening brightness" than other Eucalyptus oils -- but instead being soft and earthy. All Eucalyptus varieties are supportive of the immune system, and can enhance the efficacy of our white blood cells (according to data presented in the BMC journal of Immunology, (Apr 18;9:17).

This variety can be chosen for it's aroma, and for one of the Eucalyptus oils to be used in a high concentration on the skin. The MOST "gentle" yet still quite effective is Eucalyptus smithii, noted for long term diffuser use with children, elderly, or other sensitive individuals.
